Marvel has released a new trailer for its upcoming Alien series.

The series centers on Gabriel Cruz, a Colonial Marine who barely survived an encounter with the Xenomorphs. Cruz is trying to patch up his relationship with his son, but the threat of the Xenomorphs comes back to haunt him. Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Superman, Action Comics) will write Alien while Salvador Larroca (Invincible Iron Man, X-Treme X-Men) handles illustration on the title.

"As a lifelong superfan of the franchise, getting to write the launch of Marvel’s ALIEN was one of the biggest thrills of my writing career," Johnson told Newsarama. "ALIEN coming to Marvel feels like the beginning of a new era for the franchise, especially with the announcement of the upcoming TV series, and the gravity of being the first writer of that era is definitely not lost on me. After all the amazing work Marvel has done with the Star Wars franchise, I know the fans want to see greatness come from ALIEN as well, as they should. We’re all giving everything we have to deliver on that, and I’m confident fans will love what they see."

Marvel announced last year that it would publish new comics based on Alien and Predator after acquiring the licenses for both franchises. Marvel also published a series of variant covers featuring heroes battling the Xenomorphs, and will do the same for the Predator.
