The news was announced at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. The first of the one-shots, Finn #1, will release in July. X-Men Red writer Tom Taylor will pen the series and Infinity Wars: Iron Hammer artist Ramon Rosanas will illustrate the series. Phil Noto will provide covers.

"The Finn story takes place in his earlier days when he was a stormtrooper on Starkiller Base," Assistant Editor Tom Groneman explained. It will show the glimmer of morality that later enables the character to break free of the First Order.

"We also get to see Janitor Finn," Lucasfilm Story Group's Matt Martin added. "That's the main selling point."

In addition to Finn, solo series focusing on Rey. Groneman teased when the comic is set, saying, "Maybe there was a pitstop for Rey and Chewbacca on the way to seeing Luke." There will also be a Poe #1 one-shot. Groneman explained that one-shot saying, "Let's say he's got an unexpected mentor from his past... that we're going to meet in this issue." A Hux one-shot is also in the works.

Taylor will partner with Supergirl artist Leonard Kirk on Captain Phasma #1, which "takes places earlier in Phasma's career... [and will show] a little bit more of what makes Phasma tick," according to Groneman. The comic will show the First Order at full strength.

Groneman also announced Star Wars: Age of Resistance Special - Holdo. That series will feature the talents of G. Willow Wilson, Tom Taylor, Chris Eliopoulos and Elsa Charretier.  "So we've got our main story following Holdo, Maz and BB-8," Groneman said. "Willow knew exactly where to take Holdo in this story... This explores her earlier days a bit, and you're going to get to see that inciting incident for what makes her so unbelievably effective as a leader... It all starts here in this book."

"You get to learn how hair is dyed in a galaxy far, far away," Martin added.
