If FX's upcoming Fargo adaptation wasn't already on your must-see list, here's another reason to tune in: Deadline reports Martin Freeman, star of The Hobbit trilogy and BBC's Sherlock, has signed on for a lead role in the limited series based on the Coen Brothers' classic film.

Freeman joins the cast as Lester Nygaard, a small-town insurance salesman inspired by the William H. Macy character. Lester's life is turned upside down when he encounters a mystery man named Lorne Malvo, played by Billy Bob Thornton. Expect a whole lot of bad stuff to happen when these two meet.

FX's Fargo won't tell the exact same story as the Coen Brothers' film, but the network's own John Landgraf praised the 10-episode series' faithful tone.

"It's hard to describe how remarkably true it is to the movie," he said. "I'm going to be bold and say it will do justice to the Coen brothers' film, which is one of my favorite movies of all time."
