Lone Survivor duo Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg are teaming up yet again.

According to Deadline, the director and actor will join forces on American Desperado, an adaptation of the Jon Roberts and Evan Wright book American Desperado: My Life — From Mafia Soldier to Cocaine Cowboy to Secret Government Asset. The Departed screenwriter William Monahan is providing the script, with Paramount Pictures hoping to begin production early next year.

American Desperado chronicles the true story of Jon Roberts, described as "a prodigy of criminality — but one with remarkable self-awareness and a fierce desire to protect his son from following the same path." Roberts was "born into Mafia royalty," witnessed his first murder at the age of seven, was an assassin in Vietnam, became one of New York City's leading nightclub impresarios at the age of 22, and become an effective drug smuggler in Miami some years later.

Wright, meanwhile, is the author of Generation Kill and the co-writer of the HBO series his novel inspired.
