Is Mark Ruffalo in "Captain America: Civil War"? He doesn't seem quite sure, but Robert Downey Jr. apparently is certain. In an interview with HitFix promoting Ruffalo's new film "Infinitely Polar Bear," the actor behind Marvel Studios' Bruce Banner/Hulk said that he doesn't know for sure if he's in the new film -- but Downey says he is, which is good enough for him.
"I don't know," Ruffalo answered with a laugh when asked if he's in 2016's "Civil War." "If Robert Downey Jr. says I'm in 'Captain America,' then I'm in 'Captain America,' dammit. I will wait for the day that my call sheet shows up on my doorstep, or my script. At this point, I'm told that I'm in it -- by Robert -- which I'll take as as Biblical, but I just haven't seen or heard from production yet."
Of course, that's far from official confirmation, but Downey -- who has been playing Tony Stark/Iron Man since the original "Iron Man" film kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008 -- seems like a pretty good source for such matters. Though Ruffalo has yet to be confirmed, there are plenty of Marvel Studios veterans officially returning for "Civil War," which is now in production -- including Downey, Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man).
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, "Captain America: Civil War" is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
