Although there’s already Avengers: Age of Ultron and a Now You See Me sequel in his immediate future, Mark Ruffalo is angling for a role in another high-profile franchise.
In an interview with Collider, the Hulk actor reveals he has already reached out to Rian Johnson, who directed him in the 2008 comedy caper The Brothers Bloom, “desperately” hoping to land a part in Star Wars: Episode VIII.
“My email to Rian after all these years was, ‘Rian, congratulations on everything you’ve been doing. And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you,’” Ruffalo tells the website.
If there wasn’t a major role available — after all, J.J. Abrams’ cast for Episode VII is sizable — the Oscar nominee indicates he might consider a cameo, or even a CG role.
“After this last Avengers and the work we’re doing with that, and the advancement of the technology even since the first Avengers, I’m so excited about where we can go with motion capture,” Ruffalo says. “I hope that I’m on the front line of this kind of new frontier of creativity and performance that is completely boundless. Definitely be interested in doing something like that for Star Wars.”
