Deadline has reported that Benderspink Productions has finalized a deal to develop "Drafted," a military sci-fi series originally published by Devil's Due in 2007. The series, written by Mark Powers, ran for twelve issues and featured art from Chris Lie and Rebekah Isaacs. The comic depicted Earth's first contact with extraterrestrials in advance of a forthcoming hostile invasion and sees the human race drafted into an intergalactic war.

"I've loved this property for seven years now," JC Spink of Benderspink told Deadline, "and am so glad to be able to help make something happen for it in film." Co-creator Powers, Benderspink and original Devil's Due publisher Josh Blaylock are all on board to develop the property for the big screen. In addition to the now in-development film, "Drafted" will also get a fresh start as a comic book in 2015. Powers will write new issues of the series starting next year.

"Drafed" joins Aspen Comics' "Fathom" and Image's "Five Ghosts" on the list of comic properties currently being developed by Benderspink.
