Kingsman creator Mark Millar has clarified confusion surrounding Taron Egerton's role in the movie franchise based on the spy series.

Fans were shocked when Egerton apparently revealed he won't be back as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in Matthew Vaughn's next movie. After directing both Kingsman: The Secret Service in 2014 and 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Vaughn is confirmed to return for a third movie as well as a proposed prequel. It turns out that many sites have jumped the gun and wrongly reported that Egerton is finished with playing Eggsy.

Posting on Twitter, Millar clarified what Egerton meant by his recent comments. "People seem awfully confused by this," wrote Millar. "The Kingsman movie Matthew is shooting in the New Year is a prequel set at the beginning of the organisation in 1918 as reported a while back. Kingsman 3 comes later."

Millar reveals that Vaughn's Kingsman: The Great Game has jumped ahead of Kingsman 3 on the production schedule and teases that it will be business as usual when Egerton returns in the upcoming threequel.

Unlike Vaughn's plans to reboot the Kick-Ass series with a new direction, The Golden Circle cast should remain largely intact for the third movie. Although the 2017 movie introduced Jeff Bridges' Statesmen and the possibility of a movie focusing on Eggsy's American counterparts, it sounds like Egerton will be back for more.

Details surrounding Vaughn's prequel movie are thin, but it's rumored that Ralph Fiennes and Harris Dickinson will lead the cast. Both Millar and Vaughn are just getting started with the Kingsman series, so audiences can rest easy knowing that Eggsy will be back in the not-so-distant future.
