Mark Hamill's Trickster Looks Joker-ific in Flash Set Photos

Mark Hamill as the Trickster

DC's Scarlet Speedster is widely considered to have among the greatest rogues galleries in comics, and CW's "The Flash" has worked hard to do them justice. Now new set photos reveal that Hamill, whose Trickster has been one of the highlights of the series, is about to make his third appearance on the series. However, this time he'll look a little ... different. Joker-esque, even.

Hamill's casting as the Trickster doubles as a fun meta-joke for fans: Along with his historic rum as the Clown Prince of Crime across numerous animated projects and video games, the "Star Wars" icon played the Trickster on the short-lived 1990 "Flash" series, where he menaced John Wesley Shipp's version of the Fastest Man Alive. Now, Shipp has returned to the role of The Flash, this time playing Jay Garrick, and Hamill reprised his role as an older version of the Trickster.

As these photos show, the Trickster's Season Three return have him looking more like Jack Nicholson's Joker than ever. This may be another dimension to the meta-joke, or it might be something more. Judging by the presence of Shipp's Jay Garrick and the Art Deco look of the costumes and sets, we may be looking at a Trickster from another Earth.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, "The Flash" stars Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Keiynan Lonsdale and more.
