The as-yet untitled Star Wars: Episode IX is expected to hit theaters at the end of the year, but details about the film are being kept tightly under wraps. Late last year, Star Wars icon Mark Hamill shed a light on all the precautions Disney takes to make sure plot details stay within the film's brain trust, but that hasn't stopped fans from clamoring for pot details.
In classic Hamill fashion, he shut down yet another cry for a title reveal. When a fan tagged Hamill in a tweet saying he would have to "get (the title) out of Hamill himself" if the title for Episode IX wasn't released soon, Hamill channeled his inner Ariana Grande for his reply:
Star Wars: Episode IX: Thank U, Next would certainly be unique and Hamill's followers appreciated the humor, as the replies to his tweet were filled with more Star Wars puns tied in with Grande's hit single. For now, it seems as if he is sticking to his word and keeping any details about the next Star Wars film under wraps. The fans can keep trying and, while they might get a response from Hamill himself, the answer likely won't have any truth to it.
A recent report from Inverse suggested that an Episode IX trailer is ready to go and could be released sooner rather than later. In the meantime, fans will have to settle for Hamill's hi-jinx.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode IX stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Matt Smith, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film is scheduled to open on Dec. 20, 2019.
