Star Wars veteran Mark Hamill has paid tribute to Stan Lee, the legendary comic book writer and editor who passed away today at 95 years old.

Hamill posted a heartfelt message on Twitter, writing, "His contribution to Pop Culture was revolutionary & cannot be overstated. He was everything you hoped he would be & MORE. I loved this man & will never stop missing him. They say you should never meet a childhood idol. They are wrong."

Hamill included photos of himself happily spending time with Lee in his tribute. The two voiced roles on the Disney XD series Avengers: Black Panther's Quest, which started airing on September 23. Hamill plays villain Armin Zola and Lee is expected to make a cameo.

Earlier this year, the pair was also honored as Disney Legends at July's D23 Expo. Lee was recognized for his 75 years of service to Marvel, which led to the creation of some of the company's most iconic characters — and some of Disney's most important intellectual property. Hamill was honored for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise.

Hamill's post speaks to his deep appreciation for Lee's extraordinary contributions to comics and pop culture in general, as well as the personal bond he forged with the man.

Lee's daughter, J.C. Lee, revealed that Lee was rushed from his home in the Hollywood Hills this morning to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died.
