Mark Hamill is swinging his rhetorical lightsaber at Donald Trump, asserting the U.S. president is actually worse than Darth Vader.

The Star Wars icon has never been shy about expressing his opinions about Trump, but in The Washington Post's "Cape Up with Jonathan Capehart" podcast, he said likening the president to Vader is unfair -- to the Sith Lord.

“Listen," he said, "I really get upset then when people compare [Trump], or even Dick Cheney, to Darth Vader, because Darth Vader repented."

The franchise's prequels focused on Anakin Skywalker's shift to the Dark Side, while George Lucas' original movies charted Vader's rise to power and eventual demise. Referring to Vader's noble sacrifice to save Luke and defeat the Emperor in Return of the Jedi, Hamill explained, “He saw the error of his ways. I don’t see either one of them [Cheney or Trump] doing that."

After his involvement in the Iraq War, former Vice President Cheney has drawn comparisons to Vader, while Trump is held as a villain by many of his detractors. Hamill once suggested the late Carrie Fisher should be honored as a replacement for  Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Earlier this year, the actor attended Comic-Con International dressed as a Trump-inspired Stormtrooper, and only this month, he posted his own Christmas-themed tweet that featured Trump as the Grinch.

Despite Hamill's jibes, he has previously said he understands why the American public voted for Trump, because of the way he resonated with the working class. Whatever Hamill, and anyone else, thinks of Trump, the president remains defiant against crticisms.
