During the Sundance Film Festival, SuperHeroHype caught up with Margot Robbie and asked the question that's been on everyone's mind since she was cast as Harley Quinn in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" film: will Harley Quinn have an accent?

"None of those things have been set in stone at this point, but according to the comics, she's from New York and I think Brooklyn, so there may be a slight... I couldn't imagine it would be as strong as the 'Wolf of Wall Street' accent," said Robbie. "The lingo will be the difference between that and the other character I played in 'Wolf' but I don't know yet. We haven't spoken about it."

Harley Quinn's thick Brooklyn accent has been as much of a defining trait as her red and black color scheme ever since her debut in "Batman: The Animated Series" in 1992. Arleen Sorkin voiced the character in that series as well as a number of feature films and video games, the most recent one being 2011's "DC Universe Online." Fans wishing to hear Robbie's Brooklyn accent can check out the 2013 Martin Scorsese film "The Wolf of Wall Street," where she portrays the Bay Ridge-bred Naomi Lapaglia.

Considering how popular Harley Quinn has become since her debut two decades ago, fans are most likely attached to the villain's particular way of speaking. Robbie admitted to MTV in another recent interview that she knows how important the character is to a large group of fans.

"Yeah, I guess it's intimidating because there's obviously a lot of people I want to please, and a character I have to do justice," said Robbie. "But it's a challenge, ''m definitely up for it, and hopefully I don't disappoint."

"Suicide Squad" arrives in theaters on August 5, 2016.
