Star Margot Robbie has revealed the first look at herself in her new costume for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
The photo, posted this morning on Robbie's Instagram account, is accompanied by the caption "Miss me?" and signed "HQ." Although the film was expected to begin production next month, this image would seem to confirm rumors that principal photography has already started.
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee), Birds of Prey sees Robbie reprise her breakout role from 2016's Suicide Squad, joined by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez and Ewan McGregor, among others.
It's worth noting that Harley Quinn's necklace is engraved with the name "Bruce," presumably a reference to Bruce Wayne, the alter ego of Batman. That, naturally, raises a lot of questions.
Inspired by the DC comics team of female heroes, Birds of Prey will feature Harley alongside Black Canary, the Huntress, Renee Montoya and Cassandra Cain.
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Ewan McGregor, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Chris Messina and Matthew Willig. It is scheduled to be released on Feb. 7, 2020.
