"The Amazing Spider-Man's" Marc Webb has signed on to direct Chris Evans in the Fox Searchlight drama "Gifted."

Written by Tom Flynn, it's described by Deadline as a drama about a man who sues for custody of his gifted niece. Webb's first film since "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," "Gifted" is expected to begin shooting this fall.

According to the website, there's also movement on another Webb project, "The Only Living Boy in New York," which is shifting from Fox Searchlight to Fox 2000: Talks are reportedly under way for Jeff Bridges and Rosamund Pike to join Miles Teller in the drama, about a young man who tries to put an end to his overbearing father’s affair, only to become involved with the woman himself.

Webb, who made a splash in 2009 with "(500) Days of Summer," had put the long-brewing film on hold while he focused on Sony's Spider-Man franchise.
