CBR has an exclusive preview of Marc Guggenheim and Justin Greenwood's new Image Comics series, Torrent.

Torrent #1 reunites Guggenheim and Greenwood, who previously worked together on 2009's Resurrection. The exclusive preview for the upcoming Image Comics series introduces Michelle Metcalf, also known as Crackerjack -- a young superhero who is seen getting involved with an ongoing armored car heist. While Crackerjack fights off enemies called Mr. Skeleton, she's joined by a young apprentice, Slipstream, who hopes to follow in her crime-fighting shoes.

"Justin and I first started talking about working together again in June 2020 — i.e., the height of the pandemic," Guggenheim said. "What started out as a simple idea — turn Spider-Man into the Punisher — evolved and grew into a much more layered and complex story about heroes and heroism, eventually sowing the seeds for a new superhero universe. After nearly three years, it’s incredibly exciting to get our baby out into the world. I hope folks enjoy it!"

The synopsis for Torrent #1 reads, "From MARC GUGGENHEIM (Arrow, X-Men Gold, Star Wars: Revelations) and JUSTIN GREENWOOD (The Old Guard: Tales Through Time, Future State: Gotham) the team who brought you the critically acclaimed series Resurrection comes a brand-new superhero universe. Michelle Metcalf is the world's most happy-go-lucky hero CRACKERJACK until tragedy forces her to cross the line from hero to vigilante."

Guggenheim and Greenwood on Torrent's Themes

"Michelle gets dragged through hell and back, pitting her against all levels of villains and heroes alike! It has been insanely fun to draw a super-hero book overflowing with action, not to mention getting to team up with so many of my pals and frequent collaborators," Greenwood said when the series was announced. "Marc has built a rich world of incredible characters and we are having a blast putting them through the meat grinder. It’s exactly the kind of vicious, kinetic comic I’d been champing at the bit to draw, and it looks amazing thanks to Rico’s bold colors and Keith’s great design.”

Guggenheim added, "I’m thrilled to be working with Justin Greenwood again and to returning to the world of creator-owned super-heroes—but with a twist: A character-driven story that forces us to question what really makes a hero. With this series, Justin and I are striving to break new ground by reinventing and revisiting old tropes. And Justin’s kinetic art is second to none."
