Manifest was picked up by Netflix for a fourth and final season in August 2021. Following its cancellation by NBC, Netflix picked up the supernatural mystery series for a 20-episode fourth season. The announcement was made on Aug. 28, otherwise known as "828 Day," the annual celebration for the series that centers around the mystery of Flight 828.

Manifest Touches Down on Netflix

"Since its premiere on Netflix in June, Manifest has proven very popular with our members," said Bela Bajaria, Netflix Head of Global TV in a statement released at the time. "[Series creator Jeff Rake] and his team have crafted a beguiling mystery that has viewers around the world on the edge of their seats and believing again in second chances, and we're thrilled that they will bring fans some closure with this final super-sized season."

Manifest, which centers around the mystery of an airplane and its passengers that reappeared after vanishing for nearly five years, was canceled by NBC in June after three seasons. Originally, Netflix declined to pick the series up, despite its popularity on the streaming service. The following month it was reported that the fourth season of Manifest was once again on the table, though it was unclear at the time whether it would appear on NBC or Netflix. However, it was recently reported that Warner Bros. Television was negotiating with both cast members and writers in preparation for Netflix resurrecting the series.

"What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime," said Rake. "Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the worldwide outpouring of love and support for this story, its characters, and the team who work so hard to bring it all to life. That we will be able to reward the fans with the ending they deserve moves me to no end. On behalf of the cast, the crew, the writers, directors, and producers, thank you to Netflix, to Warner Bros., and of course to the fans. You did this."

Manifest debuted on NBC in 2018 and series creator Rake had originally planned for a six-season arc. The show stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long and Holly Taylor, and while it was initially met with a lukewarm reception by critics, the mostly fan-driven campaign to #SaveManifest proved that viewers were invested in the series.

Manifest will return to Netflix for its fourth and final season on Nov. 4.
