Mangold Shares New Logan Photo, Storyboards

"Logan" director James Mangold took to Twitter on Tuesday to release storyboard art and a new photo of Hugh Jackman as the movie's haggard version of the iconic X-Men character.

In an interview with Empire, Mangold said this movie will separate itself from other superhero movies and deal with Wolverine on a more personal level.

"How many times can they save the world in one way or another?" Mangold asked. "How can we construct a story that’s built more on character and character issues, in a way as if it almost wasn’t a superhero movie, yet it features their powers and struggles and themes?”

The photo and storyboard art revealed on Tuesday appear to be consistent with the themes. The storyboard art, drawn by comics artist and film art department veteran Gabriel Hardman, shows Logan seemingly hiding from police (or at least looking on in secret as they work). The second of the two frames shows him popping his claws, ready for an attack.

The photo, posted with no other text but a description of what camera was used and its setting, shows Jackman's title character walking toward the camera in fairly disheveled street clothes, a far cry from superhero duds.

"Logan" is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017.
