Mangamo, the first mobile manga subscription app, has just been rolled out for Andriod users around the world.

The service first launched in April for iOS on iPhone and iPad only, offering subscribers unlimited, ad-free access to a large catalog of manga titles in English from major publishers, including Kodansha, as well as smaller creators. The app is now available for Android through the Google Play Store, as well as the Apple App Store for iOS users, and is offering a 30-day free trial to new users for either.

In addition, Mangamo has launched two new titles from publisher SOZO Comics and creators DLE and Sahoko Yamazaki. One is The Most Tsundere Boss in History (with art by Tomokichi), which reimagines some of history's most famous female figures through a tsundere lens (hot-headed characters who soften over the course of the story). The other, The Warrior Demigods, Champions of Sparta, follows the struggles of an ancient Greek warrior named Pausanias against the Persian Empire. Pausanias is the nephew of King Leonidas I -- of Frank Miller's 300 fame.

These new titles are available alongside Fire Force, Attack On Titan, The Seven Deadly Sins, Fairy Tail, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, In/Spectre, Knights of Sidonia, and Ajin: Demi-Human, as well as manga based on current anime hits like Japan Sinks 2020, Arte, Dropkick on My Devil! and Somali and the Forest Spirit. Mangamo's November Featured Titles include Immortal Undertaker, Department of Demon Resources, Devil-Chi, Attack on Titan: Before the Fall, and Laughing Under the Clouds, plus two of its spinoffs, Laughing in the Fog and Laughing in Purgatory.

This spate of back-to-back announcements coincides with a recently-completed round of investment in the service from Sony's Innovation Fund and Japanese digital marketing and media company, the Septeni Group, among others. "Mangamo is ushering in a new frontier in digital manga that makes it as widely available and easily bingeable as anime for fans everywhere," said Gen Tsuchikawa, Chief Investment Manager, Sony Innovation Fund. "This investment signifies our confidence and excitement in Mangamo’s role in the growing global manga market and the possibilities for this new, influential consumer touchpoint of entertainment IP."

Mangamo is available for iOS on iPhone and iPad on the Apple App Store and for Android on the Google Play Store.
