10 Shinobi Life

The manga was written by Shoko Conami and began being released in 2006. The release of the manga's English edition was momentarily put on hold, but the series is now available in full. The manga tells the story of a shinobi who is magically transported into the future.

Kagetora is a ninja who is sworn to protect Princess Beni. When the two fall into a lake, the two are separated. Once in the future, Kagetora manages to find a girl who looks just like Princess Beni. The girl is also named Beni.

9 Black Bird

Black Bird was written by Kanoko Sakurakoji and began being released in 2006. The series revolves around Misao, a human girl with the power to see monsters. She becomes the target of these monsters. She vaguely remembers her childhood friend, Kyo. Several of her memories have been manipulated and altered, which becomes clear when Kyo comes back into her life.

Kyo is a yokai, and the heir to the powerful Tengu Clan. Kyo explains to Misao why she has such special powers. He strives to win her heart and wants to help her remember her forgotten past.

8 Special A

Special A was written by Maki Minami and began release in 2003. The series was popular enough to be made into an anime. The story is told in a modern fairy tale type fashion.

The plot follows Hikari Hanazono, a brilliant and highly competitive girl. Her parents struggle to afford to send her to an expensive and exclusive school. Her brilliance allows her entrance into her school's Special A group, an exclusive club for the school's top students. The group is allowed a lot of freedom, basically getting to do whatever they want.

7 MeruPeri

The name of this manga's title translates into English as Fairytale Prince. The manga was written by Matsuri Hino, who is better known for writing Vampire Knight. The series began its release in 2002.

The main character, Airi, is a fifteen-year-old girl obsessed with the idea of marrying a prince. Aram is a seven-year-old prince who somehow winds up getting transported from the magical realm where he's from into Airi's world. Aram befriends Airi and takes her home with him. Despite their age difference, they are forced to marry. Airi then has to learn how to survive the magical court system Aram grew up in.

6 Ouran High School Host Club

This popular manga was written by Bisco Hatori and launched in 2002. The story has been adapted to both anime and live-action. The comedic show begins when Haruhi becomes indebted to her wealthy classmates.

Haruhi, a girl who gets mistaken for a boy, becomes a member of the host club to pay off her debts. Tamaki is the founder of the host club. He is the wealthy, prince charming character of the story. Tamaki finds himself falling for Haruhi, along with a few of the other host club members.

5 Zodiac P.I.

The manga was written by Natsumi Ando and initially began its release in 2003. The main character, Lili, has a magic ring that she uses to help her solve crimes. She solves crimes using her secret identity, Detective Spica. The one crime she hasn't been able to solve is the strange disappearance of her mother.

She is reunited with her childhood friend, Hiromi, after he returns to Japan. Hiromi is a genius who begins trying to solve crimes before Detective Spica can. Lili and Hiromi have a love-hate relationship.

4 Charisma Doll

Charisma Doll was written and drawn by Erika Kurahashi. This manga is Hannah Montana meets Mulan. A high schooler named Sara is secretly the singer Sala. Sala is a total mystery, and even Sala's gender is a heavily guarded secret.

Sara goes to school with another popular singer, Hayase Shidou. Sara has to work hard to keep Hayase from finding out her secret as he knows her in both lives. Meanwhile, she finds herself falling in love with the popular musician.

3 Black Butler

Black Butler is a manga series written by Yana Toboso. The series began its run in 2006 and has continued being released to the present day. The story has been adapted to anime and film. There was even a live-action movie. While the manga is a bit darker than the typical Disney movie, the story does center around 19th-century royalty.

The land she's living on belongs to the Soma family. The Soma family takes her in. Tohru suddenly finds herself living with two of her classmates, Yuki and Kyo.

1 Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon is one of the first manga to achieve major success in America. The series was written by Naoko Takeuchi an began its release in 1991. The series was adapted to anime, movies, and a live-action television series.

The series tells the story of Usagi Tsukino, a moon princess who was reincarnated on earth. She is granted magical powers that originate from her homeland. A major part of the story is Usagi's relationship with Mamoru, who was a prince from the earth. There romance was partially inspired by the Greek legend of Endymion.
