The Mandalorian's long-awaited third season is coming along nicely according to one of its stars.

Carl Weathers -- who will be reprising his role as the Bounty Hunters' Guild Leader, Greef Karga -- shared a brief update on the progress of The Mandalorian's upcoming third season. While thanking fans for his recently celebrated 74th birthday, Weathers tweeted, "We are in the thick of shooting a new season of The Mandalorian. It's going to be fantastic!!! 'This is the way.'"

Along with revealing he'll be directing another episode, Weathers confirmed last summer that filming on The Mandalorian Season 3 would begin in September 2021. As such, the show has been shooting for roughly four months by now and will continue filming until Mar. 23, according to one report.

Details on The Mandalorian's third season are being kept under wraps at the moment, but one recurring star may be showing up again, as Migs Mayfeld actor and stand-up comedian Bill Burr recently expressed his interest in returning for Season 3. "Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa, who wrote both of my episodes that I did — to be a small part of something that big that is that good that means so much to so many people," Burr said. "I'm obviously not allowed to say anything other than I just absolutely love being on that show and I hope it continues and if it doesn't, I've had a blast."

With filming on Season 3 currently ongoing, fans will likely have to wait a while before any new footage is revealed. A first look at The Mandalorian's third season was rumored to be shown during last year's Disney+ Day celebrations alongside early footage from other upcoming Star Wars projects like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor. Although no new footage for any of those series ended up being shown, both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor were at least mentioned in a sizzle reel of 2022 releases, but The Mandalorian Season 3 was surprisingly absent altogether.

Star Wars fans will still have plenty of new content to hold them over until The Mandalorian's eventual Season 3 premiere. The Book of Boba Fett is currently releasing new episodes weekly on Disney+, while other shows, such as the aforementioned Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor and Andor starring Deigo Luna, are due out later this year. And there are even more Star Wars shows on the horizon, as Ahsoka -- a series following Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano -- has been confirmed.
