Season 3 of The Mandalorian may begin shooting this spring.

The Film & Television Industry Alliance website has updated its status for The Mandalorian, posting a shooting date of April 5, 2021. Filming is expected to take place in Los Angeles, California with multiple crew members, including series creator Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni.

Favreau previously stated that Season 3 of The Mandalorian would begin filming after production wrapped on the spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett. "This is actually separate from The Mandalorian Season 3," Favreau told Good Morning America. "But what we didn't say in that announcement is that the next show coming up, Kathleen [Kennedy] said 'the next chapter,' and that's going to be The Book of Boba Fett — and then we go into production right after that on Season 3 of The Mandalorian, back with the main character that we all have known and loved."

In addition to The Book of Boba Fett, Favreau and Filoni will also serve as executive producers on the upcoming series Star Wars: Ahsoka and Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, which are expected to cross over with Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Given their busy schedules and the new update to production, The Mandalorian Season 3 could be aiming for a release date of early 2022.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney+.
