Two classic Star Wars characters -- the Sandtroopers and Imperial Gunners --will reportedly appear in the second season of The Mandalorian.

A source close to the Disney+ show's production confirmed the cameos with That Hashtag Show, which reported them Monday. It's unclear what role the two parties will play.

The first season of The Mandalorian had several callbacks to the original Star Wars trilogy and other properties, such as The Clone Wars. But there have been no signs of the Imperial Gunners, and the only appearance of Sandtroopers came when viewers got to see their helmets on spikes.

The gunners could be the most interesting of the two, seeing as they're usually on duty at Imperial ships or installations. That Hashtag Show points out how this could also mean more of Moff Gideon, the Darksaber-wielding baddie who runs with Imperial forces in Season 1.

As for the Sandtroopers, they could be on hand for another trip to Tatooine or some other desert planet. They've appeared in several Star Wars films after first debuting in A New Hope.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito and Emily Swallow. Season 1 is streaming now on Disney+. Season 2 is slated to arrive in October.
