The Mandalorian's Rosario Dawson paid tribute to the late David Prowse on social media after it was announced that he had passed away at age 85.

"Rest In Power David Prowse. The force is with you and your loved ones. Always has been. Always will be," Dawson wrote on Twitter, accompanying her post with a GIF of Darth Vader from The Empire Strikes Back. At 6 foot 6 inches, Prowse wore Vader's costume across all three films in George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy, with James Earl Jones famously recording the Sith Lord's iconic voice.

Dawson, who recently appeared on The Mandalorian as Ahsoka Tano -- a character who debuted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Anakin Skywalker's Padawan before he became Darth Vader -- is only the latest franchise alumni to honor Prowse's passing. Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill mourned his fictional father on Twitter by describing Prowse as "a kind man & much more than Darth Vader. Actor-Husband-Father-Member of the Order of the British Empire-3 time British Weightlifting Champion & Safety Icon the Green Cross Code Man. He loved his fans as much as they loved him. #RIP."

Likewise, Lucas also praised Prowse in a statement, writing "David brought a physicality to Darth Vader that was essential for the character. He made Vader leap off the page and on to the big screen, with an imposing stature and movement performance to match the intensity and undercurrent of Vader’s presence."

Prowse, a former bodybuilder and three-time British Heavyweight Weightlifting Championship turned actor, made his acting debut as "Frankenstein’s Creation" in the 1967 James Bond parody Casino Royale. Outside of Darth Vader, the actor was best known for playing Julian in A Clockwork Orange and reprised his role as Frankenstein's Monster for two movies produced by Hammer Film Productions. He also played the Green Cross Code Man, a British pedestrian safety superhero, in various commercials from 1975 to 1990.
