Actor Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian, revealed there was a surprising downside to working alongside the adorable Grogu.

Sackhoff jokingly claimed the beloved "Baby Yoda" was not as cute and cuddly in real life as he was in front of the cameras, slamming her co-star for his alleged haughty attitude on the set of The Mandalorian. "[Grogu's] such a diva," Sackhoff said. "He's such a diva. He's got five guys that like have to...and some ladies that are constantly following him, making sure that like he's okay, and it's like where's my team? You know like he's just such a drama queen, but he is talented so we put up with it. I know. You have to do it. It's his show. We're all just in it."

More than a few fans may believe Grogu's diva attitude is well-deserved, given how quickly the character became one of the most prominent new faces of the Star Wars franchise after his debut in the series premiere of The Mandalorian. Critics of the show have often referred to Grogu as The Mandalorian's breakout star and credited the young Force-user for turning the Star Wars spinoff into one of Disney+'s most successful projects. Some have additionally argued that Grogu's popularity extended beyond the Star Wars cultural sphere, citing the overwhelming number of images and memes of the character that proliferated throughout social media in the weeks following his first appearance.

Actor Pedro Pascal, who plays the titular bounty hunter, praised the evolving dynamic between Grogu and Din Djarin. The actor particularly applauded the duo's reunion in The Book of Boba Fett season finale. "I just thought that was brilliant," he said. "What I didn't expect is such a beautiful, lonely episode that Bryce Dallas Howard directed so incredibly. And also, for the reunion to be precious but also just quite sudden and natural."

Despite Grogu's celebrity status, not everyone is a fan. Director Joe Dante previously claimed the creators of The Mandalorian stole Grogu's design from his 1984 film Gremlins, with the filmmaker pointing out aesthetic similarities between Baby Yoda and Gremlins' mogwai protagonist, Gizmo. Dante specifically mentioned that both puppets resembled a baby, further remarked that the Star Wars character was a complete and shameless copy.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian are available for streaming on Disney+, with Season 3 scheduled for release on February 2023.
