Lucasfilm still wants an Emmy Nomination for Gina Carano.

Despite her being fired from the Disney+ series earlier this year, Lucasfilm and Disney are promoting Carano for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Mandalorian Season 2 in its Emmy Awards campaign. A "For Your Consideration" poster released by Lucasfilm lists every actor who played a significant part in The Mandalorian's second season, which includes Carano for her standout role as Cara Dune.

Also included in Lucasfilm's FYC campaign are Pedro Pascal for Best Lead Actor and both Giancarlo Esposito and Temuera Morrison for Best Supporting Actor. At the time of writing, Carano has not commented on her promotion for Best Supporting Actress. The Mandalorian earned a total of 15 Emmy Nominations and 7 wins after the release of its first season, including a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. Nominations for 2021 will be announced on July 13.

Carano's Cara Dune was a fan favorite and was slated to star in her own spin-off series before her firing from The Mandalorian due to several controversial social media posts. These posts suggested voter fraud during the 2020 Presidential Election, discouraged mask-wearing during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and compared attitudes towards conservatives to the struggle of Holocaust victims. Carano, who later stated that she had been "bullied" by Disney and Lucasfilm, claims many of these tweets were taken out of context, though they caused #FireGinaCarano to start trending on social media. The hashtag inevitably worked and, after refusing to use a Lucasfilm-written apology, Carano discovered she'd been officially fired over social media.

Shortly after her firing, Lucasfilm issued a statement saying, "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney+.
