Deadwood star W. Earl Brown's reunion with Timothy Olyphant brought some of the Western's filthy dialogue to the set of The Mandalorian.
Brown shared how the playful scenario happened on the set of the Disney+ series on Twitter.
"'Jon is ready for rehearsals' In a daze, I am lead to my Mos Pelgoâs Cantina. Thereâs Tim. Thereâs Pedro. I look around, but donât see the other actor Iâm supposed to be working with," he wrote on Twitter.
"I stand behind the bar. For shits & giggles, I say to Tim, âyou oughta pin that fuckinâ..." The actor followed up it up by writing, "... Badge to yer chest, youâre hypocrite enough to wear it.' Tim and I proceed to play out scenes from our old show. We get a few giggles... Jon walks on set, laughing 'I swear to God, I love that show â I absolutely idolize Milch.'"
"We cast you first, pointing at Tim, 'when I said âhire Earl Brownâ I did not consciously think I was recreating your DEADWOOD dynamic, but here we are â DEADWOOD In Space⦠Okay, letâs rehearse," he continued on Twitter. "'Can we improvise and throw a few âCocksuckersâ into the dialogue, as tribute?"
In his final post on the matter, Brown wrote, "'No⦠Okay everyone, PLACESâ¦' I still had not met my other scene partner. The Props guy rolled his cart through the set. I thought, 'Awwwwww⦠that is so cute. The props guy went and made himself a Baby Yoda.'"
Brown played Gem Saloon staple Dan Dority in HBO's Deadwood opposite Olyphant's character, Sheriff Seth Bullock. The series ran for three seasons before its unexpected cancellation in 2006. In 2019, the cast reunited with series creator David Milch for the television film, Deadwood: The Movie.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. New episodes arrive Fridays on Disney+.
