As principal photography on The Mandalorian continues in Los Angeles, the upcoming series has added a familiar face to its cast.

Gina Carano has been cast in an undisclosed role on the inaugural live-action Star Wars series which is expected to premiere on Disney's premium streaming service, Disney+, sometime next year.

A former MMA fighter turned actor, Carano previously appeared in supporting roles in 2016's Deadpool and 2013's Fast & Furious 6. It is unclear if she will guest star or be a part of the series' main cast.

Set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian follows a lone gunfighter as he wanders in the far reaches of the galaxy before the rise of the First Order.

Jon Favreau, who serves as the executive producer, will write the series, while Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) will direct the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

Star Wars: The Mandalorian will arrive on Disney's premium streaming service, Disney+, sometime in 2019.
