WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Mandalorian, "Chapter 14: The Tragedy," streaming now on Disney+.

The sight of Slave I descending through the atmosphere towards Tython in the latest episode of The Mandalorian, "Chapter 14: The Tragedy," signaled Boba Fett's arrival to finally confront Din Djarin, who earlier in the season took Fett's armor from Cobb Vanth. And Slave I's arrival also proved Boba didn't quite lose everything after getting tossed into the Sarlacc pit in 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.

A heavily customized Firespray-31 class patrol ship, Slave I originally belonged to Jango Fett before his death in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Later, following Jango's death, Boba took control of the ship, and he was seen using it during The Clone Wars animated series. In that show, Boba learned how to be a bounty hunter from the infamous Aurra Sing, who later crashed Slave I. Following that crash, Hondo Ohnaka, the space pirate with a delightful excess of personality, rebuilt the ship, and by The Empire Strike Backs, Boba still had Slave I, using it to bring the frozen Han Solo off to Jabba the Hutt.

After Boba landed in the Sarlacc pit at the start of Return of the Jedi, the status of Slave I was left in question. However, "The Tragedy," reveals Boba had regained control of the ship by the time Din Djarin met Cobb Vanth on Tatooine. Where the famous ship has been parked, though, is still a question. It's entirely possible Boba left the ship in one of Jabba's hangars or another safe place, checking on its status occasionally. It may even be that Boba was using the ship as his base of operations on Tatooine. Either way, The Mandalorian doesn't make clear just where Boba was keeping Slave I after Return of the Jedi.

Slave I

As a ship passed down through two generations of Fetts, Slave I is sure to stick around Star Wars for a lot longer. With a major confrontation between Boba, Din and Fennec Shand in the Empire incoming, there's a good chance someone could die or get gravely injured in the future. If something happens to Boba in the final two episodes of The Mandalorian, there it's entirely possible Din -- who now knows Jango was a Mandalorian foundling and seemingly has a stable relationship with Boba -- may take control of Slave I, thus finding a replacement for the destroyed Razor Crest.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, with guest stars Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Directors for the new season include Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez.
