Boba Fett's appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian raises a lot of questions concerning his survival after falling into the Sarlacc's mouth on Tatooine in The Return of the Jedi. Instead of being digested slowly over a thousand years, Fett appears scarred, but very much alive, whole and dangerous as ever.

Boba Fett is the deadliest bounty hunter in the galaxy. He's resourceful, determined, and a walking swiss army knife of weaponry and useful tools. He may actually be the Inspector Gadget of the Star Wars universe. So how did he survive and escape the creature's mouth and the Pit of Carkoon?

10 He Worked With (Or Used) Other Victims To Escape

Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar, and other bounty hunters

In Star Wars Legends, Boba Fett was trapped with another victim inside the Sarlacc. With his help, Fett freed himself from the creature's tentacles and blew an escape hatch in the side of its mouth using grenades. In Return of the Jedi, The Sarlacc swallowed three others before Fett, so he definitely had a team to work with down there. With his leadership and experience, they could've worked together, pooled their resources ^ brainpower to come up with a clever plan. Or maybe he sacrificed them to find a way out, using them as a blast shield while he blew a hole in the Sarlacc with a thermal detonator.

9 Tusken Raiders Helped Him

Boba Fett fighting a Tusken Raider

The Tusken Raiders were indigenous to Tatooine. They knew how to survive its harsh desert climate and its predators. Their knowledge of the krayt dragon made them integral in Din Djarin and Cobb Vanth's plan to kill it in The Mandalorian's first episode of season two, "The Marshal." Maybe the nomads have a method of pacifying and safely entering the Sarlacc's mouth to scavenge the gear of its victims. Boba Fett might've convinced them to help him. After all, he carries the Tusken Raiders' signature gaffi stick in The Mandalorian and clearly knows how to use it.

8 He Used The Corpses Of The Other Victims To Climb Out

Boba Fett Star Wars

Climbing out of the Sarlacc's mouth would require some unconventional thinking. Surviving often means making use of whatever is around and more than likely, what was around Fett in the Sarlacc's stomach were half-digested corpses.

While this would be gruesome and possibly traumatic for normal individuals, the veteran bounty hunter would have no problem using corpses to build scaffolding, a ladder, or even a buffer between him and rows of sharp teeth as he climbed out through the Sarlacc's mouth.

7 He Flew Out Using His Jet Pack

Boba Fett in The Mandalorian: The Tragedy

Although his jet pack misfired when Han Solo accidentally hit him with the vibro-ax, the damage would probably not be significant. He could have waited patiently for the Sarlacc to open its mouth and rocket his way out. It's unlikely the tentacles inside the Sarlacc's stomach could hold against something with enough force and heat to lift a full-grown man in armor & loaded to the gills off the ground. The damage to its interior from the flames and jet exhaust would probably make the Sarlacc think twice before swallowing fully armed bounty hunters again.

6 He Used Slave 1 To Bomb The Sarlacc And Pull Himself Out

Firespray Seismic Charge Boba Fett

The Mandalorian demonstrates the strong attachments bounty hunters have to their ships. After all, these are essentially their homes and a place to store bounties in carbonite until they can drop them off for processing. Boba Fett's Slave 1 is a Firespray-31 class patrol and attack craft, meaning it's as well-armed and versatile as he is. In a galaxy with self-aware droids and laser swords, it wouldn't be far-fetched for Slave 1 to have remote capabilities. Fett could have had the ship fly to his location and simply bomb the Sarlacc and pull him out when it opened its mouth to protest.

5 He Cooked It From The Inside

Boba Fett Comics

Among the many weapons Boba Fett had on him when he was swallowed by the Sarlacc was the ZX Miniature flamethrower he wore on his wrist – the same flamethrower his father, Jango Fett, used during the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones. Fett could have barbequed the Sarlacc's meaty interior and burned a hole right through into the pit and found a way out from there. The flames probably wouldn't kill the Sarlacc, but the indigestion it would cause would make it very uncomfortable.

4 He Used The Force To Jump Out

Boba Fett Comic

Maybe Disney's Lucasfilm has done the unexpected and made Boba Fett a force user. This is highly unlikely, but to have him be capable of the same feats and have the same powers as the Jedi responsible for the death of his father would add some intriguing inner conflict to the character. If he was a force user, it would give him a definite advantage in escaping. Any number of force powers would be useful, from calming the Sarlacc to simply opening its mouth and force jumping out.

3 He Used His Grappling Hook To Make It Vomit

Boba Fett's arsenal included a grappling hook on his wrist, which he used to tie up Luke Skywalker right before Han Solo accidentally knocked him into Jabba's pleasure barge. This would be a versatile piece of equipment to have in situations like being swallowed by a Sarlacc.

If the Sarlacc can swallow, then it has a gag reflex. Boba Fett could have used the grappling hook to shoot the back of its throat, pull on it until it gagged, then rode the vomit wave back out to sweet freedom.

2 He Used A Lightsaber To Hack His Way Out

5. Boba Fett

As far-fetched as Boba Fett with a lightsaber sounds, he did use a lightsaber in a duel with Darth Vader in Star Wars Legends. In Dark Horse's Star Wars Tales #18 by Jason Hall, Stewart McKenny, John Wycough, Dave Nestelle, and Steve Dutro, there is a scene that shows four lightsabers in a display case in his apartment. He could easily have had one on him in case of emergencies, which makes sense since some of his bounties would likely be Jedi exiles after the initiation of Order 66. With a lightsaber, he could have easily cut his way out of the Sarlacc.

1 He Caught Hold Of Something Before He Fell In

Boba Fett Star Wars

Boba Fett may have been able to grab a hold of something inside the throat before being completely swallowed. Whether this was with his grappling hook, a vibroblade, or just his bare hands, Fett had the steely composure and quick reflexes necessary to grab onto something at the last moment. From there, it would simply be a case of flying out with the jet pack, using the grappling hook, or even physically climbing out.
