Actor and comedian Bill Burr slammed cancel culture and addressed the firing of The Mandalorian star Gina Carano, who played Cara Dune on the Disney+ series.

Burr, who played the mercenary Migs Mayfeld, showed nothing but support for his Star Wars co-star on The Bill Bert Podcast, saying, "She was an absolute sweetheart. Super nice fucking person." "Unless she did some truly horrible shit or said overtly racist shit," he continued. "I don’t know. I think there is just too many channels. And then you gotta do sensational shit...I don’t know what the fuck it is. I’m on that fucking show. Now, I gotta watch what the fuck I say.”

Carano was fired from The Mandalorian after she shared a controversial social media post comparing being a Republican in the United States to being a Jew during the Holocaust. Disney confirmed shortly thereafter that the character Cara Dune would not be recast.

Following Carano's firing, Hasbro canceled the Cara Dune action figure, which Burr weighed in on by saying, "And you know whatever and somehow someone will take this video and they'll make me say something else and try to get rid of my bald action figure...It's how it is out there. It's fucking crazy times. People just waiting, laying in the weeds."

The comedian went on to share his views on cancel culture and how it continues to impact people's lives. "'Hey you made an ignorant comparison. (flushing sound) There goes your dream, right? I look at that and it’s like, 'Who the fuck stands up to that?'" he said.

Shortly after her firing, it was announced that Carano would star in and produce a film for The Daily Wire. "I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob," Carano said. "I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can't cancel us if we don’t let them."

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Season 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
