Manchester Street Becomes 1940s New York For Captain America

Jamie Groovement has posted some excellent photos of a Manchester, England, street transformed into 1940s New York City for Captain America: The First Avenger.

You’ll notice the above sign for Excelsior Cigar Shop — a nice touch — while below you can see Brooklyn Antiques. Groovement has many more photos on his Facebook page. ComicBookMovie has other shots of the from the set.

The Joe Johnston-directed film, which stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Stanley Tucci and Tommy Lee Jones, focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe, when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. It opens on July 22, 2011.
