Universal Pictures will have to keep searching for someone to bring The Mummy back to life. According to TheWrap, Mama director Andrés "Andy" Muschietti has left the project due to "creative differences."

The current script by Jon Spaihts takes place in modern times and features a host of new characters, plus a more human mummy. The film is part of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman's studio deal. Last year, Orci said that the plan is to create a Marvel Studios-like shared universe with the Universal Monsters that will include their new take on Van Helsing.

Len Wiseman (Total Recall) was initially attached to direct the Mummy reboot, but dropped out in August. The studio has set a release date of April 22, 2016.
