Suzume No Tojimaru Offers a Deeper Preview

The forthcoming 12 minutes of film footage will not be viewers' and anime fans' first glimpse of what Suzume No Tojimaru has in store. Multiple trailers have been released, spotlighting different aspects of the movie. The first trailer highlights the film's haunting theme song, "Suzume," which is performed by TikTok singer Toaka. It also showcases several of the story's locations and, of course, the strange door at the center of the narrative's mystery. The second one features actual dialogue and depicts some of the film's other fantastical elements, including a talking cat.

Even though Suzume No Tojimaru hasn't premiered in theaters yet, two adaptations have already been produced. A novelization, which Shinkai penned himself, dropped back in August with a portion of the story being distributed at the Kadobun Summer Fair in June. The Suzume No Tojimaru manga will begin its serialization in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine next week on October 25. Denki Amashima is providing the illustrations.

Suzume No Tojimaru will debut in Japan on Nov. 11. Crunchyroll has revealed it will distribute the movie in North America sometime in early 2023. Moreover, the streaming service is teaming up with Sony Pictures and Wild Bunch International to eventually release the film in Latin America, South America, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, Africa and multiple parts of Europe.
