Humanoids is publishing a Makhno: Ukrainian Freedom Fighter graphic novel and will donate a portion of the proceeds to Razom, a Ukrainian nonprofit organization that supplies medical aid to Ukrainian fighters on the front lines.

CBR can exclusively reveal a preview for Makhno: Ukrainian Freedom Fighter, which comes from writer Philippe Thirault (Miss: Better Living Through Crime), artist Roberto Zaghi (Tex Willer) and Humanoids' Life Drawn imprint. The graphic novel, which is now available for purchase, tells the true story of Nestor Makhno, a Ukrainian anarchist who was commander of the Revolutionary Insurgent Army of Ukraine in the early 1900s. The plot synopsis reads, "In early 20th century Ukraine, anarchist Nestor Makhno, the son of peasants, was among the most heroic and colorful figures of the Russian Revolution, encouraging his people to find and embrace social and economic self-determination. Makhno is the story of a military strategist who tirelessly defied both the Bolsheviks and the Germans to protect his homeland."

Humanoids said that a portion of the proceeds from Makhno: Ukrainian Freedom Fighter will go directly to Razom to support Ukrainian relief efforts. "In the spirit of Nestor Ivanovich Makhno himself, a courageous freedom fighter who took more than once to the front lines of combat, Humanoids has chosen to donate to the organization working most directly with the freedom fights of today," Humanoids Publisher Mark Waid said.

Razom, which means "together" in Ukrainian, was born out of the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 when millions of people banded together to build a pathway to a better future for Ukraine. Their mission is to help accelerate individual and collective contributions through projects that build toward a more prosperous and democratic nation for the citizens living there. Since its inception, the organization has already built a team of partners, volunteers and networks that better the Ukrainian community and activate people in the United States to support the ongoing efforts in the country.

In addition to Miss: Better Living Through Crime, Thirault also wrote series such as Thousand Faces, The Hounds of Hell, Balkans Arena and Mandalay. Zaghi has done artwork for Zona XNathan NeverLegs WeaverOrfani and Julia. Both of them have also worked on a number of novels in the past.
