A Marvel Cinematic Universe character that first appeared back in Phase 1 finally makes her comic book debut in the new Scarlet Witch series by writer Steve Orlando and artist Sara Pichelli.
Scarlet Witch #1 introduces readers to Earth-616's Darcy Lewis, a character that actor Kat Dennings has portrayed across the Thor film franchise and in Disney+'s WandaVision series. In the MCU, Darcy was an intern working with Doctors Jane Foster and Erik Selvig before eventually becoming a doctor herself years later. A preview of the upcoming Scarlet Witch issue reveals that comic book Darcy is a worker at Wanda Maximoff's new bauble shop, but whether she has any shared history with Jane Foster, Thor or related characters is unknown as of the pages available.

Orlando previously said in an interview of Scarlet Witch's Darcy, "This is the 616 version of the character, who brings the same type of perceptions to the book, but also fits right into what's going on with Scarlet Witch, with the magic side of the Marvel Universe." She sports a similar look to the MCU's Darcy, wearing both glasses and a beanie. The preview shows Darcy speak with Wanda about fighting a sea monster before she is introduced to Wanda's speedster brother, Pietro Maximoff AKA Quicksilver.
How Marvel Has Brought in Elements From WandaVision
In the MCU, specifically WandaVision, Darcy's connection to Wanda is that she is one of the scientists called in by S.W.O.R.D. to assist with the hero's magical takeover of a small New Jersey town, Westview. Scarlet Witch is set to be an ongoing series starring Wanda, and the solicitation for the title's first issue promises that the hero will also deal with a "town gone mad." The previous comic title that Wanda starred in was Marvel's Darkhold saga, involving the mystical Darkhold book that appeared in WandaVision and drove MCU Wanda mad between the events of the series and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
What Is Next for Scarlet Witch and Darcy in the MCU?
Though 616 Wanda and Darcy are hanging out in the Scarlet Witch series, where their MCU counterparts will go in the future remains to be seen. Darcy last appeared briefly in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), while Wanda was seemingly crushed under the Darkhold Castle after destroying the structure in Multiverse of Madness. No future MCU projects with Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role as Scarlet Witch have been announced at this time, and Wanda's status as dead or alive is unconfirmed.

Main cover art for the issue is by Russell Dauterman, with variant cover artwork contributed to by Adam Hughes, Jesus Saiz, Elena Casagrande, Pepe Larraz, Lucio Parrillo, David Nakayama, Tom Reilly and Ivan Tao. The issue goes on sale Jan. 4 from Marvel Comics.
