The newest season of Magnum P.I. will be "sexier" as the show makes its NBC debut.

Per Deadline, showrunner Eric Guggenheim revealed at NBC's TCA press tour that the upcoming fifth season of the procedural will be more sexy. "It is more romantic, more emotional," he said. The shift in tone is a notable one as the show was canceled by CBS before being saved by NBC last Summer. The new season being more sensual than its predecessors may not be surprising for some fans, however, as the end of Season 4 saw the culmination of the classic "will they, won't they" dynamic between main characters Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks). With the pair sharing a kiss and beginning a relationship, Season 5 will start their romance in earnest with a steamy shower scene and a Baywatch-style romp.

Weeks also shared she had noticed the show's heightened focus on sex and that Season 5 will revolve around the obstacles Magnum and Higgins will face in trying to work together while also becoming embroiled in risky situations. Hernandez brought attention to the fact that the two characters' new relationship status will come with its own set of challenges as well. " [The] dynamic shifts a little bit when it's somebody that you're in relationship with," he said.

Magnum P.I. Moves From CBS to NBC

The showrunner and stars of Magnum P.I. also addressed the show's transition from CBS to NBC, with Guggenheim stating that the move to the new network has been "seamless". Hernandez added, "It was a shock that the show was going to go away in the first place. I was genuinely just confused... shocked that it happened. I was surprised that it found a new home as that's such a rare thing to happen."

Based on the '80s series of the same name, Magnum P.I. follows private investigator and former Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum as he solves crimes in Hawaii alongside his partner, ex-MI6 Agent Juliet Higgins. Other characters include Orville "Rick" Wright (Zachary Knighton), a Marine Sergeant who runs his own tiki bar; Marine Major and pilot Theodore "T.C." Calvin (Stephen Hill), cultural center curator; Teuila "Kumu" Tuileta (Amy Hill); and Gordon Katsumoto (Tim Kang), a Honolulu Police Department detective.

Magnum P.I. Season 5 premieres Feb. 19 on NBC.
