Magneto is taking on Thanos' ultra-powerful grand-uncle, Uranos, in a CBR exclusive first look at Marvel's X-Men Red #5.

X-Men Red #5 comes from writer Al Ewing and artists Stefano Caselli and Federico Blee. Tying into Marvel's Judgment Day event, the preview sees the Eternals' Uranos launch an attack on Arakko. Defending the planet are Magneto, Cable, Nightcrawler, Xilo, Abigail Brand and some others, with Magneto leading the primary attack against the foe in the final preview panel.

Marvel previously announced the Eternals' plan to murder all the X-Men involves using Uranos the Undying, who was previously imprisoned for millions of years. Uranos returned in March's Eternals: The Heretic one-shot, though the character first appeared in 1980's What If? #24.

Along with unleashing Uranos on Arakko, the Eternals also plan to use the Hex to defeat the X-Men. The Hex are an immensely destructive force that, having been awakened from a long slumber, are now ready to kill anything in their path. "The Hex are beautiful, clear, almost primal," A.X.E.: Judgment Day artist Valerio Schiti previously told Marvel. "When you have the misfortune to see one of them you know exactly what they do at first sight. Usually, nothing good.

Also, the Hex are unstoppable, inevitable, the embodiment of incoming destruction, that’s why none of them have a proper face. Because they are terrible creatures with no clear emotions."

The synopsis for X-Men Red #5 reads, "EXCESS DEVIATION! No one who is not an Omega-level mutant has ever taken one of the nine seats of the Great Ring. Together, they are the greatest power Arakko has ever known – and it’s nine against one. So, if the nine are losing…what does that say about the one? Judgment Day has come to the Red Planet – and it’s Arakko’s greatest test since X OF SWORDS!"

A.X.E.: Judgment Day pits the Eternals, X-Men and Avengers against one another in a cataclysmic conflict that will forever shake the foundation of the Marvel Universe. Following a prelude releasing on July 13, the crossover event kicks into full gear on July 20 with A.X.E.: Judgment Day #1. Along with additional Judgment Day issues and tie-ins, Marvel recently announced three related one-shots -- A.X.E.: Avengers #1, A.X.E.: X-Men #1 and A.X.E.: Eternals #1 -- that will release in September and October.

X-Men Red #5 features cover art by Russell Dauterman. The issue releases Aug. 3 from Marvel.
