The perennially popular Magic: The Gathering fantasy card game continues to expand with two new decks slated for the first third of 2020.
According to the card game's European social media accounts, the coming year's first two expansion card sets -- Theros: Beyond Death and Ikoria: Lair of the Behemoths -- will ship on January 24 and April 24, respectively. Participating locations will have pre-release access to the new card sets the weekend before the respective release dates to allow players the chance to play with the cards ahead of the official launch date.

Magic: The Gathering pits players against each other using self-assembled decks of spells and creatures, which draw from elemental forces to overpower opponents in turn-based card combat.
Details on both of the new card sets are currently under wraps. Theros will heavily involve the fantasy realm's underworld, while Ikoria is expected to have players build their own monsters in a new game mechanic.
Magic: The Gathering is produced by Wizards of the Coast. The Theros: Beyond Death card set will be available January 24 and the Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths card set will be available April 24.
