Magic: The Gathering's newest set is Time Spiral Remastered, and this draft-only set is jam-packed with fan-favorite cards from the original Time Spiral block from the 2000s. Many tribes are showing up in this set, such as the Merfolk and Sliver tribes -- and the Slivers just got a big boost.

Slivers are notorious for rapidly augmenting each other and using all five colors of mana. The first few previewed Slivers were all white, but this is no mono-colored tribe. In fact, red and green Slivers have arrived to form a Naya-colored tribe that is quite capable.

The Fierce Red Slivers of Time Spiral Remastered

The first previewed Slivers all costed white mana and granted a few different abilities, but now that the red Slivers are here, the tribe is far more aggressive and capable of putting out a lot of damage. Bonesplitter Sliver is a 2/2 for {3}R that grants +2/+0 to all Slivers, and this creature's name and pump ability are likely a tribute to the simple but effective Equipment card named Bonesplitter.

Getting +2/+0 is excellent for launching a Sliver offensive, and that power boost is pushed over the top when Fury Sliver join the fray. This costly creature grants double strike to all Slivers, meaning Bonesplitter Sliver effectively gives a tremendous +4/+0 power boost to its allies. No one will last long in the face of these creatures.

Homing Sliver makes things tricky with its ability to cycle away all Slivers -- including itself. For the most part, the player will want to cast their Sliver creatures to build up their board, but if they draw a second copy of a Sliver they already have, the player can pay {3} to discard it and draw something else. Even when they're pitched to the graveyard, Slivers can still contribute something to the hive.

The Ferocious Green Slivers of Time Spiral Remastered

The white Slivers add efficient and precise power to the tribe, and red mana contributes some aggressive abilities. The green Slivers contribute sheer brawn and mana acceleration to the hive to round it out nicely. Gemhide Sliver knows that this tribe needs diverse mana to operate, so it allows all Slivers to tap for any color of mana. This not only fixes the tribe's colors, but it also allows the tribe to cast high-end Slivers such as Fury Sliver with ease.

Might Sliver is a 2/2 at first, but once it grants +2/+2 to all Slivers, it becomes a 4/4 beater and all Slivers become game-winning beasts in their own right. Even the tiny Gemhide Sliver becomes a battle-worthy 3/3, and if Slivers also have double strike or haste, then they may become downright unstoppable.

Spinneret Sliver, meanwhile, adds some defensive capabilities to the ever-growing hive, granting reach to all Slivers. Ordinarily, green decks are vulnerable to enemy flying threats, but Spinneret Sliver harnesses the power of spiders to trap any interloping flier and bring it down to earth. Blue and white players had better watch out for that one.
