Drawing inspiration directly from The Godfather and Goodfellas, the Mafia video game trilogy took gamers through the world of organized crime in the 20th century. 2K Games has now released a teaser trailer, which confirms speculation that a remastered collection of the popular games is on the horizon.

The trailer brings gamers back to Empire Bay, the fictional city inspired by New York City in the 1930s through the 1950s. Tommy Angelo, protagonist of the original game, is seen being invited into the mafia to pledge his loyalty to the family. The trailer also shows the protagonists of the other two installments in the series. The trailer also hints that 2K Games will make a major announcement on May 19.

The original game was released in 2002, following Angelo during his rise to power in the 1930s. The 2010 sequel followed Italian-American immigrant Vito Scaletta in the 1940s and 1950s through Empire Bay while the 2016 third installment took place in the 1960s city of New Bordeaux, a Southeastern city inspired by New Orleans.

Critical reviews for the trilogy were largely positive, with acclaim for the games' narrative and cinematic presentation though aspects of the open-world gameplay were criticized.
