WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Maestro #3, by Peter David, German Peralta, Jesus Aburtov, Dale Keown, Jason Keith, and VC's Ariana Maher, on sale now.

Each issue of Maestro tells the story of how Hulk ended up going bad and becoming the ruthless ruler of post-apocalyptic America. However, it also has side stories at the end that fills in the blanks on several of the side characters in the "Future Imperfect" world.

In issue #3, the side story showed a young Rick Jones and a very familiar face who had survived the apocalypse with him in Marlo Chandler. The two hunted down the treasures that Rick keeps in his bunker, mostly items from all the fallen heroes.

Marlo and Rick Jones

Previously, Rick's granddaughter Janis found Mjolnir and realized she was worthy, although she never had a chance to use it. In this issue, the timeframe was many years before, with Rick and Marlo finding Wolverine's remains. He faced the same fate he did in the "Days of Future Past" world and sadly, this treasure cost Rick more than he ever expected. Rick and Marlo found Wolverine's skeleton, and they were bagging it up before two others showed up and made it clear that they needed to back off if they want to live. One of the guys recognized Rick Jones as Captain America and Hulk's old sidekick, but the other pulled out a gun and pointed it at Rick. Marlo protected her husband, shooting the scavenger in the gut with her shotgun. The survivor ran, and as Marlo went over to help Rick finishing gathering up the skeleton, the guy she shot got revenge, shooting her in the head, killing her before he died himself.

Marlo Chandler debuted in the pages of The Incredible Hulk #347 by Peter David, Jeff Purves, Mike Gustovich, Petra Scotese, and Joe Rosen. At that time, she was living in Las Vegas and was set up on a blind date with Mr. Fixit, although she had no idea this was Hulk. Marlo ended their relationship when she saw him kill someone, but the two eventually ended things on better terms before leaving the series, but she wasn't gone for long. While Rick was promoting his memoir, Sidekick, he met Marlo, and they started dating. Shortly after this, she met Hulk and realized that he and Mr. Fixit were the same people.

Marlo and Rick Jones

This didn't come in between Marlo and Rick, and she eventually moved in with Betty Ross, the two becoming best friends. Following that, Marlo had many adventures with Rick and Hulk before dying in a diabolical plan by The Leader, who also resurrected her. Rick and Marlo finally got married in The Incredible Hulk #418 by Peter David, Gary Frank, Cam Smith, Glynis Oliver, and Joe Rosen. She moved on to Captain Marvel Vol. 4 when Genis-Vell took over the mantle, and Rick became his supporting character. Sometime during all this, Marlo ended up with a remnant of Death inside her.

Marlo and Rick moved on with their lives, but despite Rick returning, she was gone for six years before finally popping back up to help the Incredible Hulks during the "Chaos War" in 2011. In this war, she was instrumental in helping bring allies back from the dead, thanks to having part of Death in her so that they could battle Chaos King and his subordinates. Marlo was the one who turned the tides, helping end the battle, and it was the last chance to see Rick hug Marlo and comment on a happy ending before being whisked away to fight more. Until now, that was the last time Marlo Chandler-Jones appeared in Marvel Comics.
