This anime became a fan-favorite in 2017, and waiting for the next season could be bothersome. On that note and if you want more of this anime's unique brand of fantasy, here are 10 more anime to watch if you love Made In Abyss.

10 The Promised Neverland

Escapism and survival make The Promised Neverland a perfect anime to add to one's watch list. The Promised Neverland features orphan children who are under the eye of their human caretaker, Isabella. Like Made In Abyss, this anime's world is not welcoming.

Both series follow young child protagonists who want to explore the world away from the confines of their homeland. If one felt Riko and Reg's encounter with creatures like the Orb Piercer was intense, The Promised Neverland ups that same feeling up. It's a must-watch for those who love the survival and battling skills displayed in Made In Abyss.

9 Hunter X Hunter

Another series that focuses on traveling, surviving, and hunting for fans to watch would be Hunter X Hunter. Hunter X Hunter's about a boy named Gon Freecss wanting to become a hunter like his father, Ging Freecss. Like Riko, another reason why Gon leaves his adoptive mother, Mito Freecss, behind for the hunter-life is that he wants to find Ging, who he's never interacted with--since he was a toddler.

Hunter X Hunter also has its fair share of cruel moments dealt upon children like in Made In Abyss. However, as with Made In Abyss, the children-hunters here will not back down so easily.

8 Pella Magi Madoka Magica

Another series that hides its dark nature through an adorable art-style would be Puella Magi Madoka Magica (or Madoka Magica for short). Madoka Magica's about a student named Madoka Kaname, who, along with her friend, Sayaka Miki--encounters a mysterious cat-like being named Kyubey who offers them a wish and a chance to become magical girls.

Like Made In Abyss, these two alongside the other magical girls encounter darker circumstances and villains that'll hurt them--emotionally and physically. If one's in love with Made In Abyss's lore, they will probably enjoy learning about the deeper aspects of the magical girl occupation in Madoka Magica.

7 School-Live!

School-Live!'s about four female students and a puppy trying to survive in an apocalyptic setting. Like Made In Abyss, this anime portrays itself as a typical moe anime until the end of the first episode reveals a darker truth. Afterward, a viewer will take away the same survival, and dramatic themes felt in Made In Abyss when watching School-Live!

Other comparisons include the specific groupings included in both series as Made In Abyss' Red and White Whistle groups are similar to Yuki Takeya's, School-Live!'s main character's club. If one's a fan of seeing cutesy characters like Riko and Reg in a darker, gruesome setting than School-Live! should be on their list.

6 Attack On Titan

Arguably, the most popular anime to come out of the last decade, Attack On Titan follows the male protagonist Eren Yaeger, who has sworn vengeance against monstrous humanoid creatures called, Titans because of what they did to his homeland and mother. Like Riko, many of Attack On Titan's mysteries and secrets--link to the show's main cast as Eren's father's relation to the show's history's an example.

As with Made In Abyss, Attack On Titan's main cast eventually leave the walls to find answers to questions they've wanted the answer too regarding their nations' and the titan's history. If a fan loves Riko and Reg's fantastical, yet suspenseful adventures in the abyss, then they'll enjoy what Attack On Titan has to offer.

5 Girls' Last Tour

Girls' Last Tour observes two girls, Chito and Yuuri, as they roam the land of an old city befallen by war and conflict in search of food and fuel for their vehicle. While exploring, Chito and Yuuri reflect on the city's past--which makes them feel lonely. However, if Chito or Yuuri are the ones feeling this way, the other girl will make sure the other's attitude is changed.

Despite Made In Abyss's and Girls' Last Tour's settings being entirely different, Riko, Reg, Chito, and Yuuri all share the love of exploration. If one is a fan of how Made In Abyss handles the show's explorative components, then Girls' Last Tour's up there with anime that highlight each show's world.

4 The Ancient Magus' Bride

The Ancient Magus' Bride's about the relationship between Alias Ainsworth and his apprentice, turned wife, Chise Hatori, and their lives in this show's magical world. Although Made In Abyss and The Ancient Magus' Bride's highlight two different occupations, the similarity stems in both show's world-building and setting.

Like Made In Abyss, The Ancient Magus' Bride's setting features many unique creatures that are integrated nicely into each show's world. A fan will understand the importance of the creatures' inclusion in The Ancient Magus' Bride's and will come away appreciating its addition to the show's lore and magical scenes. If one's solely interested in Made In Abyss for the world-building aspect, The Ancient Magus' Bride's a must-watch.

3 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's about two brothers named Edward and Alphonse Elric, who attempted to bring their mother back by using alchemy, but failed because human transmutation's a taboo in their world. After losing their "bodies" after the failed human transmutation ritual, Edward became the "Fullmetal Alchemist" after passing an exam. Thus, Alphonse and Edward go on a quest to find a way to return their bodies to normal.

Like Made In Abyss, Edward and Alphonse's quest leads them to ask questions about themselves and a parental figure. These two shows have children-and-creature experimentation that occurs in their series that's meant to anger each show's protagonists. If you're looking for another adventurous series that dives deeply into the minds of its characters and their interactions with the world around them, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's the one to watch after Made In Abyss.

2 From The New World

From the New World follows Saki Watanabe, who lives in a world filled with psychokinetic humans who are bound by complex laws. To Saki's dismay, after he awakens his psychic powers, he notices that other children haven't done so. Thus the anime follows Saki and his friends' adventure in a utopia that's shockingly not as peaceful as the society made it seem.

As with the others on the list, the main comparison to draw from Made In Abyss and From the New World would be how each anime builds up the darker parts of the world as each episode airs. If one is a fan of anime that slowly spoon-feed information about the contrasts of one's society, then From the New World is an anime that would be interesting to place on one's watch list.

1 Kaiba

Kaiba follows the journey of a man named Kaiba, who awakens one day with memory loss, a hole in his body, and a locket carrying a picture of a mysterious woman. Thus Kaiba's goals are clear, and that's to travel around this universe's many planets to find out who the woman in the photo and himself are.

As one can tell, the similarities are endless between Kaiba and Made In Abyss as Kaiba's journey--reflects Riko and Reg's goals. These goals are to find Riko's mother and to help Reg uncover information about his past-life. Other points worth noting is that Kaiba's universe builds up in time via each episode -- like with Made In Abyss. If one's impatient about waiting to learn more about Riko and Reg, then learning about what Kaiba uncovers could satisfy that urge.
