Madame Web star Adam Scott recently revealed he "couldn't resist" signing on for the upcoming blockbuster, which is set in Sony's Spider-Man Universe.

Scott discussed his decision to appear in Madame Web in an interview with Collider. "I actually didn't think I was gonna work over the summer before we started Severance up again because we started in October, and I wasn't planning on working at all before then," he said. "Then this came up, and I couldn't resist." It's currently unclear who Scott will play in the movie, although persistent rumors claim that he will portray Spider-Man's uncle, Ben Parker. These rumors remain pure speculation for now, though.

Scott isn't the only member of the Madame Web cast whose role remains a secret, either. The identities of the characters played by his co-stars Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps and Zosia Mamet remain a mystery, too. The best source of intel to date comes from Roberts, who recently confirmed that she's not playing a superhero in the upcoming SSU entry. Even lead star Dakota Johnson's part remains somewhat up in the air, as it's currently unclear which incarnation of Madame Web she will bring to life.

Dakota Johnson Talks Madame Web

Johnson opened up about shooting Madame Web in a recent interview, describing the comic book adaptation as being unlike anything she's previously taken part in. "It was a wild experience," she said. "I don't think you can be prepped to go into anything like that, but I learned so much. It's a completely different way of making films, you know." Johnson also confirmed that principal photography on the Spider-Man spinoff has wrapped, echoing an earlier announcement to this effect by director of photography Duane Charles Manwiller on Instagram.

This doesn't mean that fans should expect to see Madame Web in action anytime soon. On the contrary, Sony recently rescheduled the blockbuster's release date, along with that of another entry in the SSU canon, Kraven the Hunter. As a result of this reshuffle, Kraven the Hunter will now debut in October 2023, while Madame Web won't premiere until February 2024. Sony is yet to publicly comment on its reason for postponing the two movies' respective premieres. The January 2024 release date of Sony's other confirmed SSU installment, Bad Bunny vehicle El Muerto, remains unchanged.

Madame Web arrives in theaters on Feb. 16, 2024.
