Madame Web set photos just revealed new information about Adam Scott's mystery role in the upcoming Sony's Spider-Man Universe blockbuster.

The unofficial behind-the-scenes snaps surfaced on Twitter. They show Scott and co-star Dakota Johnson dressed in Emergency Medical Technician uniforms and carrying medical gear as they sprint towards a car accident. Scott's character working as an EMT is the first key detail fans have learned about the actor's part in the movie, as everything else (including the character's name) is still under wraps at this stage.

Scott's involvement in Madame Web was first announced in July 2022, making the Severance star the superhero movie's latest cast member to sign on for an undisclosed role. Other high-profile actors attached to the project include Sydney Sweeney, Mike Epps, Tahar Rahim, Isabela Merced, Celeste O'Connor, Zosia Mamet and Emma Roberts. Madame Web commenced principal photography on July 11 and is expected to film until October, with shooting locations to include Boston, New York and Mexico.

Which Madame Web is Dakota Johnson Playing?

Set videos from the Boston shoot recently surfaced online that showcased Johnson's comics-accurate Madame Web costume. The Fifty Shades actor's outfit in the film comprises a black top, trousers and boots, along with a red leather jacket, a look that is clearly modeled on the Julia Carpenter incarnation of Madame Web in the original comics. That said, Sony is still yet to officially confirm that Johnson is indeed portraying Carpenter and not her predecessor Cassandra Webb.

The studio remains equally tight-lipped regarding Madame Web's plot, too. All fans know at this stage is that the film "will serve as an origin story for Madame Web, a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself." The Spider-Man spinoff will also reportedly take place at least partly in the early 2000s, as confirmed by set photos that include era-specific details, such as a billboard for Beyonce's 2003 solo debut Dangerously in Love and 3G cab advertisements.

While plot and character details remain thin on the ground, Sydney Sweeney recently shared how she's been preparing for her role in Madame Webb. "I've been ordering a bunch of comic books," she said. "There's a lot to learn. I've always been a really big fan of all of the Marvel and Sony Universe movies. I've grown up watching them all and I've been engulfed in the entire world my entire life, so being able to be a part of that is such an incredible, incredible thing."

Madame Web arrives in cinemas on Oct. 6, 2023.
