Netflix hasn't released too many details about the upcoming fifth season of Netflix's Black Mirror, but two actors known for their roles in popular superhero movies have now been cast in the upcoming season of the sci-fi series.

According to Deadline, Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will join the show's rotating cast for Season 5. Since its an anthology, Black Mirror features a different set of characters and a self-contained story for each episode, so new faces are constantly appearing in the cast.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mackie has portrayed Sam Wilson, the Falcon, in films like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. This is Mackie's second prominent upcoming Netflix role, since he's also set to star in the next season of the sci-fi series Altered Carbon.

Meanwhile, Abdul-Mateen II appeared in 2018's Aquaman as the fan-favorite villain Black Manta. Abdul-Mateen is also set to return to another corner of the DC Universe in the upcoming HBO series Watchmen.

It's not yet clear what roles the actors will play in Black Mirror or if they'll appear in the same episode.

Black Mirror is an award-winning anthology series which puts a focus on the dark side of technology by imagining frightening future scenarios. The show, which currently includes four seasons and the stand-alone interactive movie Bandersnatch, is created and written by Charlie Brooker.

At this time, a release date for Black Mirror Season 5 has not been revealed.
