CBS has green-lit the pilot for a reboot of the classic '80s action series "MacGyver."

According to TVLine, the proposed "MacGyver" reboot will follow "a twentysomething MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening."

From the original show's executive producer, Henry Winkler, and freshman scribe Paul Downs Colaizzo, the "MacGyver" reboot is to be directed by "Furious 7" helmer James Wan.

The original series aired on ABC from 1985-1992 and spun-off into two TV movies that aired in 1994: "MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis" and "MacGyver: Trail to Doomsday." In 2003, a spin-off titled "Young MacGyver" was proposed, but didn't make it past the pilot stage.
