MacGruber will return to TV in a new series for Peacock, NBC's upcoming streaming service.

According to TVLineMacGruber will star Will Forte as the titular character. The series will follow MacGruber after he is released from a ten-year stint in prison. With his new freedom, he will team up with Vicki and Piper to stop the nefarious Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. It is unclear if Ryan Phillipe and Kristen Wiig will reprise their roles as Piper and Vicki, respectively, from the 2010 film of the same name.

“With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber, Vicki and Piper must race against time to defeat the forces of evil… only to find that evil may be lurking within,” the official description reads. The series was originally pitched in early 2019.

MacGruber started out as an SNL skit parodying MacGyver starring Forte. Supposedly a bomb expert, the bungling MacGruber is never as sharp or resourceful as he claims to be. The 2010 film starred Forte, Phillipe, Val Kilmer, Wiig and a bevy of WWE Superstars. Written and directed by Taccone, MacGruber only earned $9.3 million against a budget of $10 million.
