Macauley Culkin, who once famously tested the patience of two bungling burglars as Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone franchise, has supported a request that Donald Trump be removed from the sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.On social media, Culkin applauded the efforts of designer MaxSchramp who, upon popular request, digitally edited out Trump's brief appearance giving the happily lost young boy directions to the lobby in the New York Plaza Hotel. The newly edited version shows Culkin's character politely approaching thin air to request directions at which point the audio cuts out completely removing the dialogue until the moment when Kevin thanks the empty void and makes his way to the concierge's desk.RELATED: Home Alone: Criminal Defense Attorney Defends Kevin’s Antics

Furthermore, for those who believe that it would be strange to have the young Kevin McCallister asking for directions from an empty space, Culkin has also volunteered to replace Trump in the scene. Responding to another Tweet suggesting that Trump should instead be digitally replaced with an adult version of Culkin, the former child star simply said "Sold," leaving fans of the Christmas classic to deliberate the proposal in the comments section. These suggestions follow swiftly from the Jan. 6 assault on the United States Capitol by Trump supporters. This resulted in Trump being banned from various online accounts including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch and Shopify to minimize the risk of Trump using the platforms to incite further violence.

So far, the conversation to cut Trump from the festive family-comedy has only taken place informally between Culkin and fans on social media. However, while Home Alone 2 director Chris Columbus has yet to comment on the idea, he has previously spoken out against Trump's original involvement in the franchise explaining that the former reality-show star "bullied his was on-screen." Columbus stated that the cameo was written into the movie only after Trump demanded to be given a line or else he would withdraw his permission allowing the crew to use the hotel location to film. Columbus's team had already paid a previously agreed upon fee to film in the Plaza hotel (which Trump owned at the time) with no discussion of a cameo but, when it came time to shoot Trump said "The only way you can use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie."
