Released in 1990, Home Alone saw 8-year-old Kevin McCallister accidentally left behind by his family as they flew to Paris. The movie follows Kevin foiling the plans of Harry and Marv, two burglars attempting to gain entry to his home, using increasingly devious and ingenious traps. Home Alone was a massive box office success and remains a beloved movie.  Since the original film released, there have been several spinoffs and sequels. Culkin reprised his role as Kevin in 1992's Lost in New York.

Disney's plans for a reimagining follow the studio's acquisition of assets from 21st Century Fox, which include various Marvel characters, the Avatar series and much, much more.
